When children proof read over their work, the ability to identify their own mistakes is sign of a good speller. If they are able to spot their own mistakes in both spelling and sentence structure, it will give them a greater awareness of their strengths and weaknesses and what they need to work on. The above is very important for every student. As teachers, we must make sure that the children enjoy writing. If we don’t make it fun for them, then they are not going to continue to develop their skills. Literacy Block The literacy block is a class structure used by most teachers. It consists of one hour devoted to reading tasks, followed by one hour of writing tasks. It is most effective at the beginning of the day. Students are more alert and able to concentrate better than in the afternoon.
